Get Better Gas Mileage

1. Avoid Quick Acceleration and Hard Braking

Accelerating quickly puts more fuel than necessary into the engine. Burning extra fuel will cause your fuel mileage to fall dramatically. Often you accelerate at the light only to come to a sudden stop at the next. This is not only dangerous but a waste of fuel.

2. Keep Speed Below 60 MPH

Slowing down is the quickest way to get more miles per gallon. This is the best option because it is something every driver can start doing immediately. Many people travel too fast anyway.

3. Turn Off Your Engines When Not in Use

Turn your engine off if you plan to stop for more than a few minutes. Excessive engine idle waste gas. It is not cost effective to waste fuel when you are just sitting in your Buick with the engine running.

4. Keep Your Vehicle Well Maintained

Now while having your Buick maintained is not the most effective way to get better gas mileage, it is still very important. You should not neglect your car or truck. Following the maintenance schedule will ensure that your Buick is running at its best to maximize your fuel mileage.

On the other end, there are also people who "over maintain" their Buick to the point that they are wasting money. Changing your air filter every month is not going to do you any good. For optimal fuel mileage, stick to the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual.
